DENISE
Denise was ready to start pre-school when School of Today first opened. However, she has spent most of her young life in hospital. Her mother was concerned that, whatever school she attended, she would miss too much schooling to keep up with her peers. Because of her health issues, she also needed an environment protected from the many harmful chemicals (eg cleaning products) and junk food which were then available in most schools. Despite missing long periods of school, she was able to maintain her school schedule by working at her own pace. The flexibility of this school allowed her to attend part-days when her medical condition would not allow fulltime attendance. Denise really enjoyed going to school, like other children. She obtained a sound basic education, despite the major restrictions of her health problems, and is now happily employed.
These three students were given a chance to enjoy their schooling, despite having three very different areas of need. If your child doesn't quite "fit the mould" and is unhappy or underachieving at school, perhaps this is the answer for him or her - a school with a difference, where children are treated as individuals, in a pleasant rural setting.
